About Jonathan Stephen Harris

Jon Harris - Born and raised in Burton-upon-Trent, England UK. Jonathan Stephen Harris has been drawing since he was a child. At the tender age of 6 he was fascinated with birds and could identify well over 100 of them. Some of these bird drawings were made into calendars that were gifted to friends and family. In his early teenage years friends and family would commission him for pet portraits. At age 16 he was hired for his first official published commission. Jonathan graduated high school at 15, studied intermediate art at 16 for 2 years before specializing in product design for 1 year. At 19 he studied industrial design at Huddersfield University for 2 years. It was around this time Jonathan was beginning to doubt his career choices. From an early age it was evident he was an entrepreneur, therefore Jonathan decided to be his own boss and create art.. He started creating tattoo designs (tattoo flash) and selling them to tattoo shops all across the UK. He did this by himself and in person for a couple of years while simultaneously creating hi-res detailed pencil drawings of celebrities, which were sold as limited edition prints by 2 galleries in is home town. At 24 he discovered the internet and got a computer and began selling his art off his own website and then fell into custom tattoo designs online.. It was around this time he met his wife Lydia, and In 2005 Jonathan immigrated to Texas, US and started a family. Creating custom designs online was rewarding but it took up all his time.. At his peak he would be working on as many as 25 designs for 25 clients at any one time.. He would work 12+ hour days to maintain this. In 2011/2012 he was pretty much done with custom design work, and began focusing his attention towards typeface design. It was also around this time he began actively creating youtube videos. In 2015 he opened a gallery in San Angelo, TX. that primarily showcased his pop art portrait paintings. In 2017 he was offered a book deal with Walter Foster publishing. "The Art of Drawing Optical Illusions" and in that same year Jonathan and his family moved to Corpus Christi, TX. In 202o Jonathan released another book with Walter Foster publishing "The Art of Spiral Drawing" and in 2022 released a book with Dorling Kindersley (DK) "How to Draw Fun Stuff Stroke by Stroke". Jonathan is now embarking on a career path that leans more towards fine art as opposed to commercial art.
